Common Questions

Your emotional well-being, personal growth, family, and relationships are the most important assets in your life.  Taking care of those assets shouldn’t be a financial burden.  I offer affordable, compassionate therapy and support that is personalized specifically for you.  Here are a few common questions I am asked about Stonehill Cottage.

Health insurance

I am currently in the process of working with insurance companies to be able to provide in-network services.  However, that credentialing process can take anywhere from 60 to 120 business days or more.  In the meantime, I do accept private payment and then give you a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement of services.

Please note a mental health diagnosis is often required for insurance reimbursement. Many clients choose to pay privately for their therapy to protect their privacy. Additionally, couples therapy/premarital counseling are typically not covered services through insurance.  Copays and deductibles will also impact how much you pay out of pocket for services. I encourage you to check with your insurance provider to determine coverage.

Appointment Policy

Appointments are scheduled on a weekly basis and that time is set aside for you every week. If you need to make changes to your appointment please contact me at least 24 hours prior to the session. All cancellations within 24 hours will be processed at full session fee.

We are not involved in adoption or foster care.  Can we still come see you?

Absolutely!  While many of my services focus on foster care and adoptive families, I serve families of all shapes and sizes, couples, and individuals.  Better yet, let’s schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation.

Payment Options

I accept cash, check, Venmo, health savings cards (HSA/FSA) and all major credit cards as payment options.  Budget plans and sliding scale options are also available.

What Can I Expect During a Session?

Sessions typically last between 40 and 60 minutes and are tailored to you.  For children, it may include therapy through play.  Busy moms may include learning mindfulness and meditation skills to help them balance home and family without losing themselves.  My practice involves a variety of tools, techniques, and approaches such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and play/art therapy to help my clients become the best version of themselves that they desire to be.

Affording Counseling

I understand that budgets can sometimes be tight.  There are options available for budgets of all size in my practice and I believe that counseling should be affordable.  Please email me at bridget@stonehillcottage.com or call me to discuss your unique situation and how I can help.
